How to know if you need new brakes
It is important for you to take care of your vehicle, and from time to time, your car might need some new brakes. Obviously, you would want your brakes to bring your car to a complete stop in the event of an emergency. There are numerous moving parts that have to work together to bring your car to a complete stop.
From time to time, you might require new brake rotors, new brake pads, and additional brake fluid. We are Sun Chevrolet, and it would be our pleasure to help you take care of your car and its brakes. What are some of the most common signs that could indicate that you need new brakes?
1. Your Car Takes Too Long to Come to a Complete Stop
One of the most common signs that could indicate that you need new brakes is that your car is taking too long to come to a complete stop. You probably have some idea of how long it will take your car to come to a stop when you slam on the brakes. If you feel like your car is taking longer to stop, it could be a sign that your brakes are not working as well as they should. For example, your brake pads might be a bit worn out, which means that there is not as much friction being generated between your brakes and your wheels. This is not something that you want to let fester. You need to address this as quickly as possible before you need your brakes in the event of an emergency.
2. You Hear Grinding
If you hear a squeaking, grinding, or whistling coming from your break when you step on the pedal, this is a sign that your brakes might need to be replaced. There should be break fluid that helps lubricate your rotors and your pads. If your brake fluid has run out, you might hear some grinding. This is an obnoxious noise that will bother you every time you step on the pedal, so you need to make sure you don’t ignore it. If you want us to address the squeaking involving your brakes, give us a call to schedule an appointment with our service center.
3. You Smell a Burning Smell
If you detect a burning smell every time you hit the brake pedal, this is a warning sign. The burning smell takes place when there is not enough cushion between the brake pads and the rest of the system. From time to time, you will need to get new brake pads, but you should replace them before you detect a burning smell. If you have questions about how many miles you should get out of your brakes, we are here to help you. Let us make sure that you replace all components of your brakes on time.
4. Your Car Is Not Stopping Evenly
Finally, if your car is not stopping evenly, this is a sign that something is wrong with your brakes. Depending on how you drive, one portion of your brakes might wear out before the others. For example, you might find that your car is always twisting to the right when you stop, indicating that the left side of your car is taking too long to come to a stop. This could be a sign that your brakes on that side are worn out, which means that they have to be replaced. If you consistently have to turn the wheel when you stop your car, it is time for us to take a look at your brakes.

Why Buy a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle
If you are in the market for a new vehicle, you might be looking for a way to save money. One option is to go with a used vehicle. With so many options available, how can you select the right one to meet your needs? One of the first criteria that you need to consider is whether the vehicle is certified pre-owned. If a vehicle has been marked as certified pre-owned, that means that it meets all of the specifications set by the manufacturer.
We are Sun Chevrolet, and we have a wide selection of certified pre-owned vehicles from which to choose. Learn more about the benefits of going with a certified pre-owned vehicle and give us a call today if you would like to learn more about the cars we have in stock.
1. The Vehicle Should Last Longer
One of the biggest reasons why you should go with a certified pre-owned vehicle is that it should last longer. A certified pre-owned vehicle meets all of the specifications set by the manufacturer. This means that all of the parts are working as they should. If any part is found to fall short, it is replaced or reconditioned. Because the vehicle drives as you expect, it should last longer. If you are looking for a used car that will give you as many miles as possible, you may want to go with a certified pre-owned vehicle from Sun Chevrolet.
2. It May Come with a Warranty
There is also a chance that a certified pre-owned vehicle may come with a warranty. Even though it is true that a lot of used vehicles no longer have a warranty because it has long since expired, there is a chance that a certified pre-owned vehicle may still come with a warranty. Because the vehicle still drives exactly as expected, the manufacturer may be comfortable putting another warranty on the vehicle. Or there might be specific parts that come with a warranty. As a result, you may have more confidence when you drive away in your new car. If you are looking for a used vehicle that comes with a bit of added protection, consider looking for a certified pre-owned vehicle that has a warranty attached to it.
3. It Holds Its Value Better
A certified pre-owned vehicle may hold its value better. There is a strong possibility that you will want to trade in that vehicle down the road. When the time comes, you want to get as much money for that vehicle as possible. If a vehicle has been listed as certified pre-owned, it should last longer, encounter fewer issues, and provide you with a smoother ride. There is always more demand for a certified pre-owned vehicle, so you might be able to trade it in for more money.
4. Greater Transparency on the Purchase
Finally, when you purchase a used vehicle, you are looking for as much transparency as possible. You want a vehicle that has not required a lot of repairs, and you are interested in a car that has a clean driving history. If you want total transparency when you purchase a used car, you should go with a certified pre-owned vehicle. If you shop at Sun Chevrolet, you get access to a vehicle history report that will let you know whether the car has required any repairs, how well it drives, and how many prior drivers the car may have had. That way, you can feel more comfortable when you drive away in a certified pre-owned vehicle. Count on the team from Sun Chevrolet to help you.
